How to prepare for your headshot.
- Find a photographer who fits your style and personality and that you feel comfortable with.
- Ask your headshot photographer any questions you may have before the shoot. You can see a useful list here.
- Are you going to be using your photos at different times of the year, for example on blogs, maybe bring a selection of clothes to get a couple of different seasonal style shots.
- Try different outfits and poses before meeting your photographer, to get a feel for what you like, the photographer will of course guide you and knows how to get the best and most flattering angles.
- You can always have a quick practice at home in front of a mirror before the shoot.
- Remember to iron your clothes and bring hangers.
- Drink plenty of water for the days leading up to your shoot.
- Sleep well the night before to give you an even fresher glowing skin.
- Guys, shave first thing in the morning to allow your skin to settle.
- Moisturise your face.
- Get your make-up and hair done professionally, or add a little more make-up than usual, as well as powder, to stop shine and to enhance your natural beauty.
- Be yourself, be true to yourself and wear clothes that reflect your personality.
- Wear clothes that make you feel good and you feel comfortable in but that won’t date too much.
- Avoid small stripes as it can be hypnotizing and avoid logos unless of course, they’re yours!
- Remember to bring a couple of changes of clothes and accessories.
- Maybe use a professional hairstylist and check your hair before the shoot.
- Remember to bring your comb or brush and a lipstick.
- Bring accessories: hat, scarf, jewellery…
- Be comfortable, don’t be scared nobody is judging you and just have lots of fun.
